Autodesk Civil 3D Tips and Techniques
Sometimes you need a special symbol to replace or supplement the closed filled arrowhead at the end of a Civil 3D label leader when it is in the dragged state. One example is with the pipe crossing label where you want to draw attention to it by using a circle at the end of the leader instead of an arrowhead. You can create your own CUSTOM MARKER STYLE and select specific labels to apply it.
CREATE CUSTOM MARKER STYLE
- Navigate: Toolspace>Active Drawing Settings View>General>Multipurpose Styles>Marker Styles
- Select one style that you like and right click
- Select Edit or Copy
- Under Information Tab, rename it to your liking
- Under Marker Tab,
- Either "Use Custom Marker"
- Click on the radio buttons and turn on or off any symbol to your liking.
- Or "Use ACAD Block symbol"
- Select a block which is in the list
- If you need to create a special block, it will appear in the selection list after you save it in the current drawing
- Size Option:
- "Use Drawing Scale" provides the same size marker when plotted regardless of other scales.
- There are other size options you can play around with.
- Type in the size in inches.
- Display Tab:
- Select the layer you want your marker
- Layer 0 causes the marker to be on the same layer as the label
- If you want to be able to turn on and off the marker by layer control, select a special layer for it.
APPLY CUSTOM MARKER STYLE
- Highlight label(s) for which you wish to apply the custom marker style
- Under Properties, expand drop down menu Marker Style
- Select the Marker Style by name
