The Tool Palette is a powerful tool for adding specialized objects to your drawing. It is always available and is easily customized for your use. You can have as many collections of tool palettes as you wish and you can open and close them with ease. You can only have one tool palette collection open at a time.
Getting Started
Add New Tool Palette File Location
From Options Select File Path Locations
Expand Tool Palette File Path
Select Add
Browse to the folder you wish to add
Select Ok
Create New Tool Palette Collection
Click in the Properties icon at the bottom of the Tool Palette Spine
Select Customize Palettes
Right click in Palette Groups
Select New Group
Type the name of the Group
Add Tool Palettes to a Tool Palette Group
Click in the Properties icon at the bottom of the Tool Palette Spine
Select Customize Palettes
Drag and drop tool palettes from the left window into your group on the right
Export/Import Tool Palette Group
Right click on your tool palette group
Select Export/Import
Browse to the file location
Select Filename (filename.xpg)
Select OK
Switch Tool Palette Collection - Any tool palette collection which contains tool palettes is listed at the bottom of your tool palette properties menu
Click in the Properties icon at the bottom of the Tool Palette Spine
Click on the collection in the list at the bottom
Lock/Unlock Tool Palette
In Windows Explorer Browse to the file location
Right click on filename
Select Properties
Check/Uncheck Read Only
Create New Tool Palette
There are two methods to create tool palettes
In your current tool palette collection
Right Click
Select New Tool Palette
Type its name
In Tool Palettes Customization Window
Right Click on the left
Select New Palette
Type its name
Add it to a group (3 above) by dragging and dropping it to the group folder
Handy Tips
Tool Palette for frequently used hatches/blocks
Put Hatch Pattern/Block on Tool Palette
Create new tool palette
Right click in tool palette
Select New Tool Palette
Name it Hatches
Highlight the hatch/block you wish to use over again
Copy
Right click
Select Clipboard
Select Copy
Paste to tool palette
Move cursor to tool palette
Right Click
Select Paste
Place Hatch Pattern/Block in your dwg
Click on hatch pattern/block in tool palette
Click in the place you want the hatch/block
Update Block from Tool Palette - If you define a block and then add it to your tool palette, then you can edit the original block definition in the block editor. For instance, you could create a block for your project data and your site data.
